Senior design funding resolution of Spring 2015

A resolution to stop the continued semesterly funding of senior design and other required classes and remove the responsibility of securing funds for required courses from Student Senate

A Resolution

Whereas, Student Senate has allocated funds to engineering senior design teams on a semesterly basis since 1997; and

Whereas, student opinion has shown that monies allocated by student senate should fund clubs and organizations that all students can participate in; and

Whereas, senior design teams are a class required to graduate for all engineering students; and

Whereas, student leaders have agreed that continued funding of required classes is not consistent with the purpose of Student Senate; and

Whereas, the engineering department has officially agreed to consider senior design teams for funding;

Be it resolved, by the LeTourneau University Student Senate, that no required classes, such as senior design, shall henceforth be considered for any automatic allocation of monies intended for clubs and organizations; and

resolved, that no course work shall be dependent on monies from Student Senate necessary for obtaining any grade or completion requirement; and

Finally be it resolved, that required courses may still request monies from senate for specific needs by the same means as other funding requests.
