Executive Election Modification and Clarification Act of Fall 2019

An Amendment

Relating to the amending of the Constitutional Bylaws

Be it enacted by the LeTourneau University Student Senate

Short Title

Section A. This amendment may be referred to as the “Executive Election Modification and Clarification Act of Fall 2019”

Amendment

Section B. The following shall list the portions of the Constitutional Bylaws to be amended, and the amendments to the corresponding portions:

Article V - Executive Election

Section A - Electorate

1. The Electorate shall consist of all LeTourneau students whom the University required to pay the general fee.

   1. This includes undergraduate on-campus and commuter students, excluding dual credit students.

2. Members of the Electorate shall have the right to participate in Student Government sponsored events.

Section D - Interviews

1. Interview time shall be established by the Elections Committee in conjunction with the Office of Student Life.

2. Interview attendance shall be mandatory for all candidates running for Executive Cabinet positions.

3. Interviews shall be conducted by:

   1. The member of the Executive Cabinet currently holding said position, provided said member is not running for said position

   2. At least one member of the Elections Committee

   3. The member of the Administration of LeTourneau University whomst works in closest proximity to said Executive Cabinet position or appointed designee of said member.

   4. Additional members of the Senate or the Executive Cabinet by invitation of the chair of the Elections Committee

Section K - Write In Candidates

4. Write-in candidates will be required to collect signatures of 30% of the electorate instead of the standard 25%

Effective Date

Section C.

This act shall become effective upon ratification.
