In Session March 31st, 2022
Letourneau University Student Senate
Sponsored by Senators Drebot, Rubingh, Brown, Shaughnessy, Moyes, and Berry as Requested by VP Avent
Relating to the confirmation of the 2022-2023 Vice President Nomination
Be it resolved by two thirds of the entire LeTourneau University Student Senate
This act may be referred to as the "2022-2023 Vice President Nomination Confirmation Resolution of Spring 2022".
Whereas, the 2022 Executive Cabinet election had no vice president candidate which will result in a vacancy of office of the vice president when the 2022-2023 term begins,
Whereas, President-elect Matthew Strong has unofficially stated that he will nominate Cameron Crowder to the vice president position upon taking office,
Whereas, Cameron Crowder meets the constitutional requirements for the position of vice president,
Whereas, Student Senate finds Cameron
Crowder suitable for the position of vice president, and
Whereas, Student Senate wishes to approve the appointment of Cameron Crowder to the position of vice president,
Be it therefore resolved that the LeTourneau University Student Senate confirms the nomination of Cameron Crowder for the position of Vice President for the 2022-2023 term as stated in the Constitution Article I Section E.
This resolution shall become effective when the President for the 2022-2023 term nominates Cameron Crowder for the position of Vice President for the 2022-2023 term.
If Cameron Crowder is not nominated for the position of Vice President by the conclusion of the Spring 2022 semester, then this resolution shall be void.
Explanations and Reasoning
This resolution shall allow for the confirmation of the new vice president as soon as the nomination is officially made. It will avoid undesirable logistics with regard to the oath of office in chapel, the Fall Impact retreat, and the situation of having all senate officer positions vacant upon the beginning of a new term.
