Open Forum:
Senator LaQuey presents his concerns regarding inconsistencies in the constitution and bylaws.
Senator LaQuey: Everything that we've missed is in the Senate Bylaws specifically. There is provision for amending and/or going around those things.
Senator LaQuey: My three main things are simply: Put senators on committees, upholding to Robert's Rules of Order, and actually doing resolutions.
Senator Wooden: So at the very beginning of last year, I remember getting assigned to a committee, but are we not in committees?
VP Zoboroski: Anyone who was in Senate before I was VP was already in a committee. We did appoint committees at one point last semester, but, from my own viewpoint, committees didn't ever really follow the constitution. I was originally on FAC, and all we did was read funny club budget emails, then do the club funding meeting. But now, most of that is done by the chairs. In a chair meeting we get together and make a rough draft of the total budget by ourselves. That way when we go into the club interviews, we dont have to do all that previous work. Ande I think that's why the chairs started to get paid, because they realized that committees weren't getting used as they should. That was something I wanted to do this year, to get it down and get committees organized. It's just been a game of catch-up, because the previous chairs didn't do the best job of passing down information to the new chairs. That's why the first semester was like more of a scramble, because we were still just getting access to everything. I do like all the things you pointed out, but we just have to work through it this semester.
Senator Hefley: I have a few more thoughts and ideas is for Robert's rules to not be the full list, but PR&R can just make an abridged version. We just need to learn more about delegation and appointing senators to help out with these things.
VP Zoboroski: One thing about the business casual. I have trouble remembering to actually wear pants. Especially in the fall when its 95 degrees out. And I think that was kind of why we just stopped caring about it. If we do go back to business casual, I will allow the Senate T-Shirts. Also, I just didn't want to enforce a rule that I knew I wasn't going to follow.
We now move onto the horse race. Senator Wooden won.
Session recessed at 11:50.
