Follow these steps:
Come to a Senate meeting! We meet each week on Thursdays at 11:00 in Heath-Hardwick Hall 104. There, you can engage with open forum discussion, meet senate leadership, and voice your intent to join.
Check our list of current senators (LETU sign in required) to see if there is an opening for your residential district. A senator from any floor may represent their residential district as long as one floor/section does not represent 50% of the entire district.
If there is an opening, you must obtain the signatures of at least 2/3 of the members of your floor endorsing you as senator and your RA must email notice of the endorsement to the Student Body Vice President: LukeLaQuey@letu.edu
A Senate Officer will contact you to have you trained, introduced to Senate, and sworn in, after which you will officially be a senator!
Notes:
If you are going to be moving to a different voting district, make sure to campaign on the district you will live on next semester.
If you are in a paid IMPACT position, such as an RA or PA, you must receive additional approval from Senate before you can be sworn in.
If you have any questions about the election process, feel free to contact one of our Senate Officers.
Thank you for your interest in pursuing this great opportunity!
