Intersociety Block Party Bill of Spring 2026 brought to the floor.
Senator Pekar: What exactly are the downsides to us giving out money to people.
VP Zoboroski: I don’t know exactly how much money we currently have in the account. It usually takes a while to figure that out. We do have enough margin for this bill, though.
PPT Chandler: If we’re donating money to this, how is Senate going to be publicized?
Senator Waldron: I don’t think that there’s not a reason for us to be promoted, but like with clubs, they don’t necessarily say that they’re Senate-funded. Why would they have to at the block party?
Senator Hefley: Yes, but club funding is our responsibility, whereas this is extraneous.
Senator Waldron: That makes sense. Do we think we could use our Senate banner that we have up during Ice Cream?
Dr. Conn: Maybe we need to “schlep” Senate onto something. In the past there were Senate stickers, so I definitely think that there would be precedent for that.
PPT Chandler: We don’t want Intersoc to pay for our own advertising, but if you could just put the logo, or “Sponsored by Student Senate”, that would be appreciated.
The Bill is Passed.
Announcements:
Student LIfe email is brought up.
VP Zoboroski: I highly recommend senators to do NSO. You get to come to school early, hang out with your friends, etc.
Dr. Conn: I kind of like to describe it as a “short-term mission trip”. Yes, you’re working, but you’re also just hanging out and you don’t have the normal responsibilities of your regular life. You’re at college, but there’s no homework. Typically, if you’re a Senate Chair, you’ll be back early already.
VP Zoboroski: The more of you that sign up, the less work you’ll have to do.
VP Zoboroski: (Looking for the Spring Formal announcement) I’m trying to promote my own stuff… There it is. Tomorrow is the Spring Formal. Tickets will be sold at the front door. It’s directly after the etiquette dinner, and at the same location. If you’re in Senate and are going to this dance, please wait a little after it ends. We might need help to tear down and clean up.
VP Zoboroski: Also, if you have been in Senate before, at the end of the semester, Senate normally puts on a dinner to celebrate those who help. April 16th on Thursday. Is anyone opposed?
Senator Crawford: I have Intro to Speech at 6-9 on Thursdays.
VP Zoboroski: Oh, you can skip that…
VP Zoboroski: We can still figure it out, but we also need to find a place.
Senator Farley: Thursday is buy one get one free at B-Dubs.
Dr. Conn: They typically want us to be under $20 a meal.
VP Zoboroski: Yeah, be reasonable.
We bring it to a vote. Butcher Shop wins.
Open Forum:
We move to the horse race. Senator Hansen Wins.
Session adjourned at 11:40.
