Committee Reports

Chairman Willis: Motion to suspend the stand to speak rule since everyone is tightly packed.

Senator Avent: It is encouraged by the PPT, it was enforced by peer pressure, so we do not to motion.

Senator Anderson: FAC, I will schedule our next meeting.

Senator Dittman: The letter was written to the GoPro committee, we sent it to student life, PPT looked at it. Everyone has looked at it.

PPT LaQuey: Senator Beach has resigned.

Old Business

Senator Avent: Motion to add citizen Foster to the minutes

VP murphy: He does not need to be added.

New Business

Senator Crowder: Motion to bring bill Nondescript Funding Act of Spring 2021 to the floor

Approved

Senator Hofer: As a man, I take honesty seriously, I do know what redacted items are. It is a worthy cause.

PPT LaQuey: If anything goes wrong with this, things will come down like a hammer. I have a few things planned.

Senator Moyes: I speak for a large portion of people here; I would like to note that it doesn’t say what is redacted. Can you friendly amend to know what was purchased?

Senator Hofer: It will be made very clear to everyone.

VP Murphy: The point of being redated is for the element of surprise.

Senator Rubingh: Is the true?

Senator Hofer: That is correct

Chairman Willis: Motion to bring to a vote

Senator Bright: Is the full $200 going to be used on this prank

Senator Hofer: Probably not

Senator Eaton: Who’s idea was this?

PPT LaQuey: I am flattered you think it’s a prank

Senator Anderson: Can someone from FAC, be added as a sponsor?

PPT LaQuey: We could but I don’t think it is necessary.

VP Murphy: They will turn in a receipt.

Senator Dittman: Should it be it is not PPT LaQuey, not senator?

VP Murphy: He is both

Chairman Willis: Motion to bring to a vote

Bill Approved

Chairman Willis: I motion to bring a letter to the floor.

VP Murphy: Lets save that for open forum.

Announcements

Chainman Willis: Senate ice cream will be this Friday from 3:30-4:30, we are getting rid of some snacks too. Please help set up or tear down. I will not be there, if you can head it up, please let me know.

VP Murphy: During dead week, we need to move our senate session.

Open Forum

Senator Bright: What is the status of the snacks?

Chairman Willis: They have been purchased from last week, we need another person or two to help with buying snacks. If someone could help buy snacks in between the weeks that we buy ice cream that would be helpful.

Chairman Willis: Motion to bring a letter to the floor. This was brought up due to the bill that was brought up last week.

VP Murphy: That point of the election, I stated on three accounts, that that point was inaccurate. It needs to go away.

Chairman Willis: That will be changed

Senator Avent: In reference to Chairman Willis, who is the board?

Senator Hofer: That is Gonzalez’s input.

Chairman Willis: That is correct, whether it is the board of trustees , the president’s cabinet, or other groups of student life.

Senator Eaton: We need to be clear; I would request that we have clear wording

Chairman Willis: It is sometimes hard to communicate, when two-way communication is difficult to know what we are talking about because we talk to such few members.

Senator Avent: Isn’t the board of trustee’s job to have communication with us?

VP Murphy: In being specific, it can be a title.

Senator Bright: I would mention that the introduction, it does not define that our general goal is two-way communication. We need to communicate what our big goal is.

Senator Hofer: There was a clause that did that, but it has been removed.

Chairman Willis: I think these are good criticism, I think we are learning it is difficult for 15 people to write one letter in three different meetings. We can amend it now, or we can table it now until next session.

Senator Hofer: I am of the opinion that we should amend it now if we can.

Senator Dittman: We wanted it presented before April 26. We could have it referred back to the committees. We can double check a lot of things.

Senator Moyes: I agree that we need to present this in a timely manner, since we have addressed it with the committees, we could have the chairs look over it. That should prove representatives. We would have to recess today and call another session

Senator Hofer: I would make the suggestion that we could make a list of changes, and we could affirm this now.

Senator Anderson: I think we have too many cooks in the kitchen, the committees should outline the core, but I think it would be best to have a few people writing the bill. I can agree with senator Moyes.

VP murphy: That would be good.

Dean Steve: As a recipient of this letter, I’m not sure what you want besides do better. You addressed if to five people. I have been available to you all. I screwed up the response. I’m sorry for that mistake. I feel like I am available. If you want me to give you a verbal response of we will do better, I can do that. Being more specific about what you want would be good. If you said this to all those people, they would pass that to me.

VP Murphy: Isn’t President Turner on that committee?

PPT LaQuey: Thank you for being available for us. If you want nothing to get done, assign it to a committee, that will stall things. I do appreciate we are being careful about this. Senate is not merely a survey. There is a sentiment that is difficult to address. If we do not feel like there is a way to be heard, the ideas are not being heard. We need to think through things. We need to define what we want. We need to be specific about what we want and need. Address offices not people. We need to be careful to respect.

Chairman Willis: I motion to refer this to the chair meeting

Approved

Senator Rubingh: Originally when the GoPro sent it to student life, we did want a response from all the parties not just some.

VP Murphy: We need to be clear; this is referred to the chair meeting. Any points of notes of grammar or structure please put it in the discord.

Senator Moyes: I motion for a post action recess

Session is recessed 11:50 AM
